Deze week ben ik op zoek geweest naar Satakieli wol uit Finland. I wil Letse wanten gaan breien in een KAL op Ravelry en daar hebben ze het steeds over dit garen, dat niet in Nederland verkrijgbaar is. Maar tegenwoordig staat internet voor niets. Dus bij degenen die het maken in Finland, de firma Vuorelma, heb ik het garen het dichtste bij gevonden. Erg aardig van ze om per email een kleurenkaart te sturen, zodat ik de nummers en de kleuren goed kon kiezen. En nu maar wachten. Het boek waaruit we de wanten gaan breien kocht ik dit voorjaar op de beurs in Zwolle, Latvian Mittens door Lizbeth Upitis. Zij is ook een moderator in deze KAL!
Het patroon dat ik wil gaan breien heet Varakluna uit het district Latgale. Het wordt gebreid met wit en rood en een beetje grijs en zwart. Ik heb er echt zin in!
This week I have been busy finding information about Satakieli yarn from Finland. I want to take part in a KAL knitting Latvian mittens from a pattern book by Lizbeth Upitis. In the book and on the KAL they are talking about Satakieli yarn. That yarn should be better for this kind of project. It's pure wool and not completely degreased. This kind of yarn is not available in the Netherlands so I was looking for a place to order. Finally got to the origin of the yarn itself in Finland, where you can order it at Vuorelma online. Very nice of them to send me an email with the color chart attached. So now I have the book, I have choosen the pattern and I am only waiting for the yarn...
The pattern I will knit is Varaklanu from Latgale. Its a pattern in red and white with some black and gray. I'm really looking forward to this KAL.
